We understand the eligibility and qualification standards that must be met in order to obtain this benefit. Our goal is to educate you and your family so that you understand what steps need to be taken in order to qualify for this pension. Our recommendations are based upon proven methods of applying legal and financial planning that will not only help you through this process, but also help you understand the entire spectrum of long-term care planning.
For example, if Mom’s first foray into the long-term healthcare arena is at the assisted living level of care, it is unlikely that she will remain at that level of care for the balance of her life. What happens when she needs nursing care? What benefits are available to help pay for care without her spending down all of her hard earned assets or forfeiting her house to pay for care. We can help you plan now and plan ahead.

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you must then meet the qualification standards. These standards are based upon income, the cost of care that is needed, and the amount of savings and investments that you have accumulated. There is no set standard for qualification. Each case must be evaluated on its own to determine whether or not a veteran or spouse will qualify.
Unlike other governmental benefits, the Aid and Attendance program does not currently penalize individuals for making adjustments to help them qualify.
Care can be provided at home or in a care community.
Care can be provided by family, friends, or licensed healthcare representatives.
The cost of care plus all other unreimbursed medical expenses are used to satisfy qualification requirements.
